Wednesday night college basketball and the Oregon Ducks will travel to the Galen Center to take on the USC Trojans. The game has a start time of 9:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN 2. Current Vegas betting odds have Oregon listed as 4 point favorites, while the total is set at 146.5.
Analysis: The Oregon Ducks come in off a big 95-72 home win over Washington State on Sunday night. The win was their 3rd in a row and 5th in their last 6 games as they have been playing very well of late. Overall the Ducks are 17-7, including 7-4 in the Pac-12. The Ducks have gone 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400, but just 1-6-2 ATS in their last 9 games after scoring more than 90 points in their previous game. The Ducks have been a strong offensive team this year, ranking 20th in scoring (77.2 ppg), 65th in shooting (46.2%), 96th in 3 point shooting (36.1%) and 15th in FT shooting (75.1%). The defense for this team has not been very good this year as they come in ranked 297th in points allowed (71.2 ppg), 107th in defensive FG% (41.3%) and 191st in 3 point defense (33.9%).
The USC Trojans have been playing some bad ball of late as they have lost 8 in a row and 10 of their last 11. Sunday night they did play Stanford tough, but in the end the Cardinal walked away with a 70-62 win. Overall USC is 9-14, which includes a 1-10 mark in the Pac-12. USC has gone 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600, but just 19-40-2 ATS in their last 61 home games. The Trojans have been a below average offensive team this year, ranking 195th in scoring (66.8 ppg), 264th in shooting (41.6%), 285th in 3 point shooting (31.2%) and 319th in FT shooting (64.0%). Defensively the Trojans have been poor, ranking 280th in points allowed (70.2 ppg), 132nd in defensive FG% (41.8%) and 83rd in 3 point defense (31.9%).
Pick: I will be going with the Ducks in this one. USC has played hard at home, but they are still a mess and Oregon has a solid team that is fighting for a spot in the NCAA tournament. The Trojans have now lost 8 in a row and just don't really matchup well with the Ducks, especially on the offensive end of the floor where the Ducks have averaged 75.8 ppg in their last 5 games, compared to the 63.8 that USC has put up over the same stretch. The road team is 23-9 the last 32 in the series and I see that continuing here.
