The NBA’s two worst teams, the Orlando Magic and Charlotte Bobcats, will attempt to avoid setting basketball back 65 years when they hook up at the Time Warner Cable Arena later this evening (7:00pm ET start time). NBA Odds are favoring the 16 win Bobcats at -3 against the spread and -150 on the moneyline ($150 wins $100). The Over/Under in tonight’s game is set at 199.5 points.
The Magic are working hard, or so it would seem, to finish in the Southeast cellar. Orlando lost its seventh straight game on Monday, falling 94-108 at Miami to bring its record to 18-53 overall.
The setback also helped Charlotte draw within 1.5 games of the Magic as the two rivals duke it out for the not so coveted title of ‘league’s worst team’.
Charlotte, meanwhile, has actually played some decent basketball of late. Of course, the Bobcats 109-77 loss at Miami on Sunday does little to bolster that statement; however, prior to the Heat embarrassment, Charlotte had won three of six games.
The Bobcats recent ‘surge’ began with a 100-74 win over the Celtics on March 12th and it ended, or so their track record would indicate, with back to back home wins over the Wizards and Raptors on the 18th and 20th.
Charlotte, which is 2-0 against the Magic this season (106-100, 105-92), has dropped two in a row coming into this evening’s game, losing to the Pistons 91-92 prior to the aforementioned face plant in Miami.
Statistically speaking, Orlando is a superior team to Charlotte. The gap in experienced talent will probably be evident tonight as the Magic look to keep the Bobcats in their rear-view mirror.
Notable Trends: Charlotte is 3-7 straight up and 1-9 against the spread in its last 10 games as a home favorite with a spread between 0 and 3.5 points.
Orlando Magic vs Charlotte Bobcats NBA Odds:
Orlando Magic +3 (-110), Over 199.5 (-110), +130 (Moneyline)
Charlotte Bobcats -3 (-110), Under 199.5 (-110), -150 (Moneyline)
