Penn State is fighting for its tournament chances here. The Nittany Lions are an improved team this season and in winning five of the last six overall have gotten into the NCAA Tournament discussion. They already own a victory over Ohio State on the road, that is still the only loss for the Buckeyes in conference this season.
Can Penn State do it again? The Nittany Lions are a strong defensive club, allowing only 66 points per game as they force opponents into tough shots. According to KenPom, Penn State is 23rd in the country in adjusted defensive efficiency as well, that is fifth-best in the Big Ten behind Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue and Michigan.
Interestingly enough, those are the other four teams from the conference that are going to make the NCAA Tournament. Penn State is in the conversation, but they need another resume booster or two before the conference tournament is played. They’ll get their chance down the stretch with games at home against Ohio State and Michigan while also traveling to play Purdue and Nebraska.
