The third and final leg of horse racing's Triple Crown will take place later today at at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York with the 2013 Belmont Stakes. While their isn't a horse running for horse racing glory in the Belmont Stakes, it certainly still will be a race to remember. The 2013 Belmont Stakes Odds for Overanalyze are listed at 12-1 to win the race, making it one of the longshots to pick up the win.
Despite all the horse racing jokes that can be connected with the horses' name, there are quite a few experts that believe this horse can have a major impact on the race. This is one of Todd Pletcher's five horses in the race, making up better than one-third of the field. John Velazquez will ride atop the horse, which is considered to be one of the longshots to win at 12-1. Only seven horses have worse odds than Overanalyze, but that also means that only six horses have better odds, seemingly putting the horse right down the middle.
The horse didn't run in the Preakness Stakes. It didn't run well in the Kentucky Derby to begin with, but a jockey change to Hall of Famer Velazquez could be an important one. It opens the race from the third post position and with Velazquez on board, they could make a solid move at the front in this race. Last year the combination won twice.
Overanalyze was thought to be a good fit at Churchill Downs, yet he wound up in 11th place at the end. The horse showed quite a bit of speed by winning the Arkansas Derby but because of the slop (presumably) at the Kentucky Derby, wasn't around the top. And the horse will probably run at a decent clip in this race, but how much will it have left in the tank for the finish? This is a 1.5 mile track and endurance will be the key.
