Tonight the NHL Playoffs continue with Game 4 in the Eastern Conference semifinals as the Pittsburgh Penguins take on the Ottawa Senators. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on the NBC Sports Network. Currently the odds for the game have the Penguins favored to win tonight's game.
Ottawa picked up a double overtime victory over the Penguins in Game 3 and tonight are looking to pick up a victory to even the playoff series. Daniel Alfredsson scored with less than a minute to go in regulation prior to Colin Greening getting the winner at 7:39 of the second overtime.
In tonight's game Pittsburgh will certainly be looking to gain an edge with their playoff experience. They know a win in Ottawa tonight could be the end of the series. If they're leading 3-1 with the Senators having to win three straight, including two in Pittsburgh, the Penguins will be marching onto the conference finals.
Sidney Crosby has scored six times this post season while Evgeni Malkin has marked 38 shots in the team's nine games this playoffs. We all know they are two of the best players in the world and Ottawa will certainly be looking to stop them. Pittsburgh has been averaging nearly four goals per game this playoff season and it getting up better than 32 shots per game against opposing goalies.
Craig Anderson has been pretty solid for the Senators, winning five of the seven playoff games he's started to this point. His goals against average of 2.17 and his save percentage of 94 percent has gotten the Sens here to this point but he has to play well in tonight's game. The Penguins are going to come in waves at him tonight and if he is able to keep them off the scoreboard, the Senators can be in a good position to even the series.
A big key for the Sens will be staying out of the box. They have allowed six power play goals to this point in the playoffs and the Penguins have scored 10 tallies with the man advantage already.
Something here is telling us that Ottawa is the right spot. The Senators have gotten to this point by doing things their own way but a loss tonight would definitely be detrimental to their season. It's hard to see this team winning three straight against a very talented Pittsburgh team. We like them to get it done tonight.
