NHL Playoff Odds: Devils vs. Kings Picks, Predictions and Odds

http://www.washingtonpost.com/rf/image_404h/2010-2019/Wires/Online/2012-05-31/AP/Images/Stanley%20Cup%20Finals%20Kings%20Devils%20Hockey.JPEG-0a437.jpg

The Stanley Cup Finals continue Wednesday night in Game 4 between the visiting New Jersey Devils and the Los Angeles Kings. The NHL Playoff odds for the game have the Kings favored at -180 (Risk $180 to win $100). The game is scheduled for an 8:00 pm start time and it will be televised live on NBC Sports Network. The odds show that bookmakers have a prediction of a Stanley Cup clinching home win for the Kings.

Picks: Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick has been a dominant force in the playoffs and has been the biggest reason the Kings are just one win away from winning the Stanley Cup. Captain Dustin Brown could become the biggest name in town. "It's right there in front of us, but we know there's one more step," Brown said Tuesday. "We don't want to trip now." The Kings have smoked everyone in the playoffs to date, qualifying for the playoffs as the eighth seed in the Western Conference before destroying the Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues and Phoenix Coyotes. The Kings are on an amazing 15-2 playoff run that saw them outscore opponents 49-24 during that span. Oddly enough, if the Kings win tonight they'll be the first NHL team to win the Stanley Cup at home since the Anaheim Ducks in 2007. Their playoff run has been so impressive that only one team in the history of the league has been able to accomplish it. The Kings have a chance to match the Edmonton Oilers' NHL-record 16-2 run through the 1988 playoffs with a victory tonight. Leading playoff scorer Anze Kopitar gave Los Angeles a road win back in Game 1. Quick has been so dominant in the post season that he has given up just 24 goals in 17 playoff games and he sports a .950 save percentage. The Devils are in an 0-3 hole that's only been escaped three times in the history of the NHL Playoffs and just once in 25 tries in the Stanley Cup finals, by Toronto in 1942.

Predictions: I think the Devils sneak up and get a win here today, if only because the Kings have never been in this position before and could potentially feel a bit of the nervous bug. But let's be real, each of these teams have played very well in this series, aside from New Jersey in Game 3. The Devils are going to come with everything they have here tonight because if they don't, they'll be playing golf while the Kings hoist the Stanley Cup. I don't think New Jersey is ready to have their season come to an end just yet and I think the pressure might be a bit much for the Kings here tonight. Devils 3, Kings 2
