NHL Playoff Odds, Start Time Detroit Red Wings at Anaheim Ducks

Game 2 of the Western Conference Playoffs between the Detroit Red Wings and the Anaheim Ducks takes place tonight. The game is scheduled for a 10:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on the NBC Sports Network. Currently the odds for the game have the Ducks as a decent favorite.

The Red Wings played well against the Ducks in the first game of this series. Yet, their inability to stay out of the penalty box proved to be costly. Anaheim, despite the late empty net goal, scored both of their tallies on power plays.

Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard did a pretty decent job of stopping Anaheim from running up a few more goals. Howard is going to have to play well the entire series if the Red Wings are going to be able to hang around in this one. The game-winning goal scored against him early in the third period by Teemu Selanne was pretty much an unstoppable shot.

Henrik Zetterberg knows his team is going to need to play better offensively in tonight's game. The Wings scored their only goal on the power play last game and if they are able to have an advantage during full strength, they can steal tonight's game.

Playoff series' in the NHL don't usually "start" until a home team loses. If Anaheim wins tonight's contest and takes a 2-0 lead, the Red Wings shouldn't freak out or get discouraged. Saku Koivu was able to slow down the offensive motions of Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk in the opener, which hand-cuffed the Red Wings.

Anaheim goalie Jonas Hiller played like a monster in Game 1. He made several key saves against the Red Wings and if he is able to continue to play at a high level against a team that is going to get quite a few shots on goal, the Ducks are in a good spot. Yet in tonight's game we like the Red Wings to come out and put pressure on Anaheim the whole game.

Look for Detroit to play more disciplined, focused and aggressive.
