NFL Week 1 Odds Bengals vs Bears

The new look Chicago Bears open their season today against a team many are picking to win the AFC North, the Cincinnati Bengals. This afternoon's battle between the Bengals and Bears is scheduled to get underway at 1:00pm ET at Solider Field in Chicago; the game will be broadcast live on CBS. NFL Week 1 Odds are favoring the hosting Bears at -3 against the spread and -140 on the moneyline. The total in today's game is set at 42.5 points.

Chicago started its 2012 season in grand fashion, winning seven of its first eight games, but the wheels came off the Bears bus following a November 11th loss to the Texans.

Chicago proceeded to lose four of its next five games before closing out the season with back to back road wins against the struggling Cardinals and Lions. While those two victories enabled the Bears to reach 10 wins, they did not earn them a spot in the playoffs or preserve longtime head coach Lovie Smith's job.

Chicago brass elected to clean house as they sent Smith and his staff packing and welcomed in CFL guru Marc Trestman.

Despite the Bears poor offensive numbers from a season ago (310.6 yards and 23.4 points per game), many believe Trestman has the kind of team capable of making a run at Green Bay's division title.

Today's meeting between the Bears and Bengals could reveal, to some extent, whether or not that is, indeed, the case. Cincinnati, which has won 19 games over the last two seasons, is coming off back-to-back playoff appearances, and, should Andy Dalton continue to develop, appears to have a decent shot at procuring an AFC North crown.

The Bengals are also a team that travels well for the most part. The past two seasons have yielded some ugly divisional road losses, but Cincinnati is 9-0 in its last nine non-divisional away games. It won those nine outings by an average of 13.3 points per game.

NFL Week 1 Odds Betting Trend: The Bengals are 7-3 straight up and 8-1-1 against the spread in their last 10 games as a road dog with a spread between 0 and 3.5 points.

NFL Week 1 Odds Bengals vs Bears:

Cincinnati Bengals +3 (-120), Over 42.5 (-110), +120 (Moneyline)

Chicago Bears -3 (+100), Under 42.5 (-110), -140 (Moneyline)
