NFL Thursday Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys: Start Time, Spread, Free Pick

Hi-res-153209957_crop_exact

NFL on Thanksgiving and we will see the Washington Redskins to the Lone Star State to take on the Dallas Cowboys. The game is scheduled for a 4:15 PM (Eastern) start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have Dallas favored by 3 points, while the total sits at 48. Check out Sportsbook Spy to find out what side the Public is taking on all today's games.

Free Analysis: Washington is right behind the 6-4 New York Giants and 5-5 Cowboys in the division standings. Griffin said he told his teammates, especially the offensive line, to take of their bodies because it's a short week with Dallas on the docket Thursday afternoon. Griffin knew his team's proverbial back was against the wall versus the just- as-desperate Philadelphia Eagles Sunday at FedEx Field, where he dazzled the crowd with both his arm and legs in a 31-6 rout. RG3 completed 14 of his 15 pass attempts for 200 yards with a career-best four touchdown pass and no interceptions. His 158.3 quarterback rating was perfect.  Veteran wide receiver Santana Moss found the end zone for the fourth time in as many weeks after splitting double coverage to reel in a 61-yard scoring strike from Griffin. Moss, who matched a career high with six touchdowns this season, has traditionally torched the Cowboys (78 receptions, 1,125 yards and six touchdowns in 13 games). Kerrigan had one of the four sacks on the day, helping the Redskins halt a three-game losing streak and win for the first time since Oct. 14. The Redskins allowed a season-low 177 passing yards and held Philadelphia to 257 yards total, including 80 on the ground. Washington's defense is riding a wave of confidence heading into this matchup and could take advantage of what could be another shakeup across the o-line for Dallas. Smith is the latest lineman to go down and the team is hopeful the injury isn't that serious.

Dallas has yet to cover at home this year (2-2 SU, 0-4 ATS), but it has covered in five of its past six games as a Thanksgiving Day favorite. Dallas needed to come back and force overtime against the Browns at home last week, but has managed back-to-back SU wins for the first time since Weeks 9-12 last season. Cowboys QB Tony Romo was able to bring his team back from a double-digit, fourth-quarter deficit against the Browns last week, winning 23-20 in overtime. Although he's had a subpar season (7.4 YPA, 13 TD, 13 INT), Romo expects to throw ball all over the weak Washington secondary. Romo has a pair of talented receivers in Miles Austin (727 rec. yds) and Dez Bryant (735 rec. yds), who is coming off a 12-catch, 145-yard performance against Cleveland. TE Jason Witten leads the team in both receptions (73) and targets (99). The running game is a big problem though, as both of Dallas' top running backs, DeMarco Murray (foot) and Felix Jones (knee), are expected to miss Thursday's contest. That leaves rookie Lance Dunbar as the main running back. Dunbar has just 20 carries this season, gaining just 67 yards (3.4 YPC) with zero touchdowns. Dallas is known for making mental mistakes on defense, especially in the secondary. Rookie cornerback Morris Claiborne played well versus the Browns one week after collecting flags left and right in Philadelphia. Linebackers Bruce Carter, Ernie Sims and Dan Connor must be prepared to chase RG3 Thursday and cut off his running lanes. Eagles rookie LB Mychal Kendricks was able to that on several occasions this past weekend.

Free Pick: Im going with Dallas in this one. Last week Washington had a good game defensively vs an Eagles offense that can make any defense look good these days. Washington will not have that luxury in this one. The Skins are 29th in the league vs the pass allowing 289.2 ypg and they will be taking on Dallas' 7th ranked passing offense that has put up 284 ypg on the year. At home the Dallas pass offense has put up 330 ypg, while the Skins defense has allowed 292.8 ypg on the road. The Skins offense has been very good this year, and they have put up 25 ppg on the road this year, but the Dallas Defense has been very solid at home allowing just 282.5 ypg and 23.3 ppg. The Dallas offense vs Washington's defense gets the big edge here, as I just don't see Washington's offense going hog wild on this Dallas defense that has played very well at home. Look for a desperate Dallas team to take this on by a TD.
