One of football's best rivalries will close out this evening's NFL action as the Dallas Cowboys host the New York Giants at the newly named AT&T Stadium. Tonight's showdown between the two divisional foes is scheduled to kickoff at 8:30pm ET on NBC. The latest Sunday Night Football Odds have the Cowboys listed as a -3.5 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 51 points. The Giants are drawing a +155 money line ($100 wins $155) while Dallas is a -175 straight up pick ($175 wins $100).
The Giants welcomed the Cowboys to MetLife Stadium to kickoff the 2012 NFL season last September, but the game did not go according to plan (Eli Manning and company were a 3.5 point favorite) for the then defending Super Bowl champions.
Dallas, despite racking up 13 penalties, dominated the New York, scoring a 24-17 win after holding the ball for 34:07 and racking 433 yards to the G-Men's 269.
Tony Romo was nearly flawless, completing 22-of-29 passes for 307 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception.
Unfortunately for Romo, he was far less sharp when the two clubs hooked up again on October 28th. The Cowboys were, again, statistically dominant, posting 28 first downs and 434 yards to the Giants 11 and 293, respectively; however, six Dallas turnovers, including four interceptions from Romo, led to a 29-24 win for New York.
While those numbers may scare some away from backing the Giants tonight, they should probably do the opposite. Dallas has consistently shown an inability to close games or play mistake free football against the Giants, particularly in the Big D.
The results do not lie and they are decidedly in favor of New York, which is 5-1 both straight up and against the spread in its last six trips to Dallas.
Certainly the Cowboys have enough talent to defeat the Giants tonight, but the reverse is also true. And, given what has to be New York's incredible confidence playing in front of Dallas' fans, there is no need to step off the Tom Coughlin express, not tonight anyway.
