New England saw its seven game win streak come to an end last Sunday night as the San Francisco 49ers pulled off a 41-34 upset in Foxborough. The Patriots, who were favored by 5.5 points over the Niners, dug a 31-3 hole thanks to some shoddy ball security.
Tom Brady nearly rallied the team to victory, though, as New England scored 28 unanswered points to tie the game 31-31 midway through the fourth quarter.
Theoretically the Patriots should not have to worry about any such drama this weekend, not against Jacksonville. The 2-12 Jaguars, who are coming off an utterly forgettable 24-3 road loss at Miami, have turned in a number of putrid home efforts this season.
Jacksonville is 1-6 as a host this season and five of its six losses at EverBank Field have come by 17 or more points. It did manage to stay within single digits of its last visitor, though, falling 17-10 to the offensively challenged Jets.
Despite the Jags horrific track record, it is difficult to side with a team, even one as offensively capable as New England, laying 14.5 points on the road.
