NFL Sunday Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans: Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Hi-res-158487376_crop_exact

NFL Week 17 and we will see the Jacksonville Jaguars travel to Tennessee to take on the Tennessee Titans. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 PM (Eastern) start time and it will be televised live on CBS. Currently the odds for the game have Tennessee favored by 4 points, while the total sits at 42. Check out Sportsbook Spy to find out what side the Public is taking on all today's games.

Free Analysis: New Jaguars owner Shad Khan has to decide if first-year coach Mike Mularkey and general manager Gene Smith will return after the team missed the playoffs for a fifth straight season. Jacksonville (2-13) set a team record for losses last Sunday with a 23-16 defeat to New England, but Mularkey is proud of how his players have competed during this rough season. Three of the Jaguars' last five losses have been by seven points or fewer. The Jaguars, who've dropped 11 of 12 overall, must end a five-game road losing streak to complete their first season sweep of the Titans since 2005. Led by quarterback Chad Henne, who replaced the injured Blaine Gabbert to throw two TD passes in his first start since last October with Miami, Jacksonville ended a seven-game overall slide with a 24-19 victory over the Titans on Nov. 25. Henne will be missing one of his main targets Sunday with Cecil Shorts - the team leader with 979 receiving yards and seven scores - done for the season after suffering a concussion last week. It's uncertain if 2011 NFL rushing leader Maurice Jones-Drew will return to Jacksonville's backfield for the first time in 10 games due to a sprained left foot. Jones-Drew ran for 103 yards and a touchdown in the Jaguars' last visit to Nashville, a 23-17 Titans victory Dec. 24, 2011. Jacksonville ranks 31st overall on both offense and defense.

Tennessee has dropped four of the last five and is coming off a 55-7 beating at Green Bay - a defeat that second-year coach Mike Munchak termed "embarrassing" and "not acceptable."  Like the Jaguars, Tennessee also has serious concerns under center. Jake Locker was drafted No. 8 overall in 2011 - two slots in front of Gabbert - but has done little to show he's the long-term answer. Locker missed five games due to injury, but his performance has regressed since the bye week. He has been intercepted nine times and has tossed only four scoring passes in the last five games, and was sacked a season-high seven times in last week's loss. Running back Chris Johnson has the numbers but they belie his overall performance. Although Johnson has rushed for 1,187 yards, he was held to 28 yards on 11 carries last week - the sixth time he has been limited to 44 yards or fewer. The Titans defense allows 30.1 points per game, 127.5 rushing yards, and 247.4 passing yards with 16 interceptions and 32 sacks. Jordan Babineaux has 94 tackles, Zach Brown has 89 tackles, and Akeem Ayers has 95 tackles.

Free Pick: Two bad defenses should equal up to a lot of points in this one. I know the Jags offense is poor, but Tennessee could allow points to an ivy league team right now. The Tennessee offense has struggled as well, but the Jags are 31st in the league in total defense. Nothing to play for for either team and I expect both offenses to open it up and have a great showing vs some BAD defenses.
