The defending champion Giants return to the Meadowlands today to face, arguably, the league’s worst team in the Cleveland Browns (1:00pm ET start time, CBS). The Giants are -360 moneyline play ($360 wins $100) to register their third win of the season; today’s game total is set at 43.5 points.

New York returns after a two game road swing that saw the club smash Carolina 36-7 before falling 17-19 to Philadelphia. The Giants come into today’s contest sporting a 2-2 overall record as a result, not a huge surprise given the team’s Jekyll and Hyde regular season nature over the past few seasons.

The loss to the Eagles does not exactly ensure a more complete performance from the Giants this afternoon; however, If New York takes the Browns seriously, than this game should be a blowout.

Cleveland rookie running back Trent Richardson may have, inadvertently, put his team in New York’s crosshairs with his comments earlier this week. Richardson indicated he felt the Browns could exploit the Giants run defense and experience some offensive success this afternoon.

While Richardson’s comments were mostly benign and innocent, they were still ill-advised. The Browns, at 0-4, should be more focused on getting their own house in order and if they see an advantage on tape they may want to keep that information to themselves.

New York, without question, saw several match up advantages after it examined last week’s meeting between the Browns and Ravens. Cleveland can probably expect a seven or eight man pass rush this afternoon since there is no need for the Giants to cover receivers who are unable to catch the ball.
