The Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints meet up on NFL Sunday in NFC South action. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on CBS. Currently the odds for the game have the Saints favored at home in this one.
Before the season started, this week's game between the Saints and Panthers certainly looked like it could be one between two of the best teams in the NFC. But both squads are really struggling this season. The game is still a big one, though, as the Saints are tied with Atlanta for the lead in the NFC South at just 5-7.
Even if the Saints finish below or right at .500 for the season, a first-place finish in the division would allow them to host a playoff game, even with the opposition having a better overall record.
Drew Brees led New Orleans to their biggest win of the season last week in Pittsburgh. The Saints have always been a good home team under Sean Payton and they won the first three games there this season, but dropped their last three there as well. The defense is going to have to play well for New Orleans here, even with a sputtering Carolina offense.
Cam Newton and the Panthers are 3-8-1 on the season and got drilled by Minnesota last week. The offense has been atrocious, the defense hasn't been any better and Carolina has not won a football game since beating the Chicago Bears back in Week 5. Don't expect that to be broken this week.
Free Pick: New Orleans 31, Carolina 17
