NFL Preseason Detroit Lions at Jacksonville Jaguars Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The Detroit Lions are on the road tonight, taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars in NFL Preseason Football action. The game is scheduled for a 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the odds have Jaguars favored by almost a field goal in this third week of the preseason.

Both Detroit and Jacksonville enter tonight's game with identical 1-1 preseason records. While the preseason doesn't allow any team to win anything, playing well and establishing a decent depth chart are both important.

Detroit lost their most recent game to Washington, but their first-stringers certainly looked good against the Redskins. The defense repeatedly was able to get contact with Robert Griffin III and eventually he ended up with a concussion in the game. Washington coach Jay Gruden said Griffin III would wind up being OK and it looks like they're going to go with him as the starter once the regular season rolls around. Moving back to Detroit, Matthew Stafford was 6-for-8 for 78 yards on the opening drive for Detroit in that game, which ended in a field goal.

The Lions have position battles, especially at receiver and time at tailback. Ameer Abdullah had a great first game but only saw a couple of touches last week. Expect him to get the football in this one more.

Jacksonville will see their first action from rookie running back T.J. Yeldon tonight. He's a big back that should get a healthy dose of carries tonight. The Lions rush defense is going to be solid this season, so let's see how Yeldon and the Jaguars do running the ball tonight.

Blake Bortles looks like he is going to be a solid professional for the Jags as well, Chad Henne also was efficient in the team's most recent loss to the NY Giants. The Jacksonville receivers caught 21 passes for 192 yards, 11 different receivers caught passes last week.

Jacksonville looks like it's an up and coming team, the Lions are looking to get back into the playoffs again this year. Both offenses will continue to work on things tonight, but we'll take the Jags at home.

Movie Oakland Raiders: 2015 NFL Free Picks & Betting Odds

Vegas betting expert Steve Fezzik doesn’t expect the bad situation in Oakland to get much better this season. This AFC West team may have some improvements in terms of personnel, but Jack Del Rio is the latest in a carousel of ever-changing mediocre coaches, and Fezzik doesn’t expect he is the guy to turn this team around. He also thinks people are overstating Derek Carr’s abilities at quarterback, as he may do well in the fourth quarter, but his numbers are padded with garbage time performance.
