The Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals will wrap up the 2012 NFL Preseason schedule tonight when they collide at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona (11:00pm ET start time, NFL Network). Peyton Manning snapped out of his preseason funk last week as he worked his way through a tough San Francisco defense with relative ease. Manning completed 10-of-12 passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Broncos head into the break with a 24-10 lead.

While no one was fretting over Manning’s ability to lead Denver’s offense, his showing against the Niners was a welcome performance after he produced three interceptions and a sub 50 quarterback rating in the team’s first two preseason games.

With the Broncos already prepping for their opener with the Steelers at Mile High, Manning and the rest of the starters are unlikely to play more than a series this evening. The same cannot be said for Arizona rookie Ryan Lindley, who gets the start tonight for the Cardinals.

With Kevin Kolb and John Skelton doing their best to play themselves out of the starting role under center, Arizona Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt has decided to see how well Lindley performs with the first team offense.

While the San Diego State product has not been tabbed to move ahead of either Kolb or Skelton on the depth chart, he has shown enough that Arizona feels they may have a reliable player in a year or two.

Whisenhunt and his staff are, no doubt, hopeful Lindley can show some flashes of being a capable quarterback because those moments have been few and far between for Kolb and Skelton this preseason. Kolb sports a 44.2 passer rating with one touchdown and four interceptions to his credit while Skelton has one touchdown to two interceptions to go along with a 64.8 quarterback rating.
