People have complained about the stink at O.co Coliseum this season as the venue has been plagued with plumbing issues on at least two occasions. A different sort of stink will be featured there today, though, as the winless Washington Redskins battle the 1-2 Oakland Raiders. This afternoon clash between the two squads, which will be broadcast live on FOX, has a scheduled start time of 4:25pm ET. Enter the Washington Redskins, who are 0-3 with home losses to the Eagles and Lions and a road loss to the Packers. And yet, Robert Griffin III and company are laying points away from home this afternoon.
Obviously the odds makers and betting public believe Washington will improve as the season progresses, and that Oakland is doomed to another drain circling campaign. Because, frankly, perception is the only reason for this line to be where it is right now.
While the Raiders are 1-2, they nearly pulled off a week one upset, taking the heavily favored Colts to the wire in Indianapolis and they are the only team to keep the Broncos under 40 points this season.
Starting quarterback Terrelle Pryor is questionable for Oakland after suffering a concussion in Monday night's loss at Denver; however, Matt Flynn, who was signed to start for the Raiders in the offseason, cannot be that big of a downgrade. Besides, it should not matter who plays quarterback against this Redskins defense. Ken Stabler could probably give it a go this afternoon and approach a 100 passer rating.
Notable Trends: The Raiders are 4-1-1 in their last five games as a home dog with a spread between 0 and 3.5 points.
