NFL Odds
Atlanta -5
Total: 51.5 points
This could be the year for the Atlanta Falcons. They’ve been solid all season long and will look to beat the perennial NFC contending Seattle Seahawks in the first divisional round game this weekend.
Atlanta lost 26-24 earlier this season at Seattle, a game that saw the Seahawks allow 21 third quarter points to the Falcons, but rally to score the only points in the fourth quarter to win. Matt Ryan threw for 335 and three scores in that game, when Earl Thomas was still on the field for Seattle. Since his unfortunate injury earlier this season, the Seahawks have clearly not been the same on that side of the football.
Ryan and the Falcons will have Julio Jones back at full health after the first-round bye last week. Jones is a monster at receiver and should be primed for a good game at home here coming off some extra rest.
Atlanta has been very strong in home games this season offensively, averaging 35 points per contest. Seattle was just 3-5 on the road this season, averaging 15 points in those games. Russell Wilson has a lot of weapons, but it will come down to the Seahawk defense being able to stop the Falcons through the air and on the ground with Davonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman in this one.
The Falcons, at home, are playing in the team’s biggest game in a while. Ryan and the offense are good enough to win this contest and their ability to sustain drives in this one will make the difference.
