The Carolina Panthers welcome in the New York Jets today in NFL Football action. The game is scheduled for a 4:05 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on CBS. Currently the odds for the game have Carolina favored by double figures to win.

Carolina and Cam Newton have been a dominant football team most of the season, especially in home games where they've won five of their six games. It's very possible that this game could be a typical "look-ahead" spot for the quality team.

The Panthers have New Orleans next week, so Carolina could look past the lowly Jets, who have struggled mightily at times this season. Remember, New Orleans brought Carolina's eight-game win streak to an end last week. Not many people believe in Carolina and their 9-4 record this season, but it's worth noting that the Panthers own victories over New England, San Francisco and the Miami Dolphins this season.

New York is somehow still alive in the AFC playoff hunt, but they aren't a very good football team. The Jets have Geno Smith at quarterback, the up and down rookie who could flourish into a solid player. But he's still in his first season and is taking his struggles in stride. But all season the Jets have looked very pedestrian on offense for most of the year.

Today, the Jets will take on one of the best defenses in football. Smith has an NFL-high 24 turnovers and odds are he'll contribute to that number again this week. The Jets are -18 in turnover differential this season (worst in the league) while Carolina ranks as one of the best in the league at +10 this season.

The Panthers really got beat up last week in their loss to the Saints. And knowing they have to play them again next week, look for them to be efficient on offense this week. We don't expect the Jets to move the ball much against Carolina's defense.
