The San Diego Chargers are hosting the Miami Dolphins in NFL Football action on Sunday afternoon. The game is scheduled for a 4:05 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on CBS. The NFL Odds for the game have the Chargers favored to pick up the win at home.
NFL Odds
San Diego -3.5
Total: 48.5 points
Phillip Rivers led the Chargers to a big win on Sunday, albeit over the Tennessee Titans. The win was big to get the Chargers back on track after falling to the Broncos the week prior, now San Diego has a couple of winnable games the next few weeks to get over the .500 mark.
Rivers and the Bolts can absolutely score points, averaging just under 30 per contest which ranks third best in the league. Melvin Gordon is starting to play better coming out of the backfield, he’s put up consecutive 100 yard games for the first time this season and is averaging better than 5.5 yards per carry in those games. A strong run game will only make the Chargers better.
Miami is 0-3 in road games this season, but they haven’t played a game on the road in a month. Ryan Tannehill and the Fins have struggled to consistently score points this season, which seems a bit odd given that head coach Adam Gase was brought in to fix that problem.
Jay Ajayi has been a major addition to the team this season, he’s piled up better than 525 yards on the ground the last three weeks and Miami won all three of those games. Ajayi is averaging almost seven yards per carry in those wins as well plus he’s scored four times.
The running backs will be a big impact on this one. Neither defense is great and San Diego is probably the better overall team, but Miami has struggled on the road this season.
