Two potential playoff teams here. Carolina is going to have its work to do in order to qualify for the post season as they’ve started just 3-5, but the schedule (following this game) does have some winnable games if they continue to play well.
Kansas City plays in the toughest division in pro football as the AFC West is logged-jammed with Oakland leading the way at 7-2. KC is a game behind them in the win column while Denver is 6-3 and the always-playing in a close game San Diego is 4-5. The Chiefs are winners of four straight and are 2-2 in road games this season, but it’s possible quarterback Alex Smith will again miss this game because of concussion symptoms.
Nick Foles is a serviceable backup, he led KC to a close win last week over Jacksonville despite only throwing for one score, but the Chiefs did get four field goals from Cairo Santos and won 19-14.
The defenses for both teams here could make this a low-scoring affair. Tough to see the offenses consistently moving the football in this one, but Cam Newton needs to find a way to lead his team to a win.
