NFL Football Betting Odds Jacksonville Jaguars vs Houston Texans Free Pick

Week 17 NFL and the Jacksonville Jaguars will travel to NRG Stadium to take on the Houston Texans. The game has a start time of 1:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on FOX. Current Vegas odds have the Texans listed as 9.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 40.5.

Analysis:  The Jacksonville Jaguars have had another miserable year, as they come in with a 3-12 record overall and an 0-7 mark on the road. The Jags are 5-11-2 ATS in their last 18 games overall, 3-11-1 ATS in their last 15 games following a S.U. win and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games in Week 17. Jacksonville is not a good offensive team as they come in ranked 30th in total yards, 30th in passing, 23rd in rushing and 32nd in scoring (15.5 ppg). The defense has not been good as well, as they come in ranked 27th in yards allowed, 29th vs the pass, 27th vs the run and 27th in points allowed (25.9 ppg).

The Houston Texans went just 2-14 last year, but like most expected they have bounced back this year going 8-7 so far. They do have an outside shot at the playoffs, but they need a win here, a San Diego Loss and a Baltimore loss to get in. Houston is 5-1-2 ATS in their last 8 games in Week 17 and 5-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, but just 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 games following an ATS win. The Texans have been average on offense, ranking 17th in total yards, 26th in passing, 4th in rushing and 14th in scoring (23.3 ppg). The Houston defense comes in ranked 21st in yards allowed, 24th vs the pass, 11th vs the run and 6th in points allowed (19.3 ppg).

Pick: Very hard to see many points being generated in this game. The Jaguars have the worst offense in the league as they come in averaging just 15.5 ppg overall, including just 13.3 ppg on the road. How will this team score much vs a Houston defense that has allowed just 19.3 ppg on the year overall and just 14.3 ppg in their last 3 games. This is a defense that comes in hot and will be looking to totally shut down this weak Jaguars attack. On offense, Houston has not been that strong and they do come in averaging just 20.7 ppg in their last 3 games, while the Jaguar's defense has improved of late, holding their last 3 opponents to just 20.4 ppg. The Under is 18-7 in the Jaguars last 25 games vs the AFC South, while the Under is 21-8-1 in Houston's last 30 game in December. Both trends should continue here.
