The Baltimore Ravens hit the road to take on the Detroit Lions for Monday Night Football. The game is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have the Lions favored to win at home by about a touchdown.
This is a big time game for both teams. Detroit needs a win at home to stay tied for first place in the NFC North with the Chicago Bears. Baltimore is now still alive in the AFC North as the Cincinnati Bengals couldn't get the job done against Pittsburgh last night.
Baltimore has been in several close games of late. The Ravens have had eight of their last 10 matchups decided by a field goal or less. The Lions are favored by about a touchdown in this contest, so naturally we know this game is probably going to be close as well.
The Ravens have won three in a row while Detroit lost last week and have dropped three of their last four games. But Detroit is still alive to win their division so this game has monster implications for them. Baltimore has struggled mightily on the road this season, winning just once in their six games. Detroit on the other hand is one of the best teams when they play at home, claiming victories in five of their six games at Ford Field. Their only loss at home this season other than Cincinnati came to — you guessed it, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Matt Stafford loves to throw the football and has 15 touchdowns in his last six games at home. Reggie Bush will be back on the field as well in this game, giving the Lions their full complement of stars on offense to go with Calvin Johnson and the guys.
Prior to last week, the Lions hadn't given up a rushing touchdown since Week 4. Their rush defense has been very impressive this season and should bottle up Ray Rice. Baltimore will want to get the football to Dennis Pitta, who is back on the field and one of Joe Flacco's favorite targets.
In this contest we like the Lions. Detroit has had some problems this season with turning the football over. If they don't turn the football over tonight they'll win big.
