The Jets are listed at +2500 moneyline odds (well behind the favored Patriots at +500) to win the Super Bowl and +1100 odds fill the AFC’s half of the championship ledger come February. New York, despite being the second pick in the AFC East, is also being given relatively long odds to win its division at +500 (risk $100 to win $500).
The Jets put together three consecutive winning seasons and made two AFC Championship Game appearances between 2008 and 2010, but they slipped back to .500 last season, finishing with an 8-8 record. Like the blustery Ryan, odds maker are expecting New York to bounce back this year.
Offshore book BetOnline.com has the Jets regular season win total set at 8.5 games and the Over is drawing -145 odds (Under 8.5 wins +115). Cantor Gaming likes a Jets resurgence as well. The Vegas based sports book, which released its 2012 NFL regular season point spreads earlier this month (save Week #17), has New York favored in eight games and listed as pick’em in meetings with the Houston Texans (home) and Tennessee Titans (road).
