If there is a team in the league that can justifiably play the ‘no respect’ card, it is the New York Giants. Despite winning their second Super Bowl in the last five years in February, the Giants, according the latest 2012 NFL Predictions at Sportsbook.ag, are not even favored to win their division this season (drawing +200 to the Eagles +125). Given that line, it is no surprise that New York is not expected to defend its world championship either. Super Bowl Odds at the offshore bookmaker have the Giants listed at 20-1 odds to repeat as champions, a listing which ranks behind 10 other teams, including five NFC squads.
While the latest New York Giants odds at Sportsbook.ag do not portend big things for the defending champs, they are not all grim either. The team is favored to record Over 8.5 wins, something it has done in five of the last seven seasons, at -165 odds ($165 to win $100). If Vegas based Cantor Gaming is correct, though, football bettors may want to lean toward the Under 8.5 wins, which is presently set +135 odds ($100 to win $135).
Cantor released its 2012 NFL regular season point spreads for weeks one through 16 back in May, and it has the Giants favored in just seven of its first 15 games. That may appear a bit strange, but after a quick look at New York's schedule, which includes home and road meetings with the Cowboys and Eagles as well as non-divisional battles against San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, New Orleans, and Atlanta, it seems less so.
