The New Orleans Saints suffered through an unenviable off-season with both bounty gate and protracted contract negotiations with Drew Brees hanging over the franchise since its playoff loss to the 49ers. The one will, of course, have season long affects as Head Coach Sean Payton and linebacker Jonathan Vilma are suspended for the entire year; however, the team did come to terms with Brees on a long term deal, giving it a chance to move past its recent issues sooner rather than later. The latest New Orleans Saints 2012 NFL Predictions and Super Bowl Odds at Sportsbook.ag would suggest the franchise will, indeed, overcome the past five months.
While not a favorite to win the NFC Championship or the Lombardi Trophy, the Saints, who are drawing 10/1 odds for the former and 20/1 for the latter, are at least considered a potential championship candidate.
The offense, which is still loaded with play makers, will, once again, drive the bus as it looks to overcome a defense that allowed almost 370 yards per game a season ago. New Orleans ranked first and second in yards and points per game last year, respectively, and with Brees happy and healthy, it should post similar numbers in 2012.
Sportsbook.ag, based upon the 9.5 game season win total it set for the Saints, at least has some belief in the team’s ability to outscore its opposition. The offshore book does not appear as confident in the team as Vegas based odds maker Cantor Gaming, though. Cantor, which issued points spreads for the entire 2012 NFL regular season schedule save week 17, has New Orleans favored in 11 of 15 games.
