After last weekend's shoddy home performance against the Cleveland Browns, the odds makers appear to be having their doubts about the New England Patriots. Despite Tom Brady and company's routine domination of the Miami Dolphins, the latest NFL Odds have them laying just one point in this afternoon's meeting with the Fins at Sun Life Stadium. Start time in today's clash between the two AFC East rivals is set for 1:00pm ET (CBS).
New England experienced an unforgettable game last Sunday against the Browns as it came back from a 19-3 deficit and scored two touchdowns in the game's final two minutes to earn a 27-26 victory. The win came at a price, though, as Patriots all-world tight end Rob Gronkowski was lost for the season after suffering a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee.
The win all but guaranteed New England the AFC East title, but it will need to knock off the Dolphins on Sunday to lock down the division.
Miami, which lost 17-27 in Foxborough on October 27th, may not be in the giving mood, though. The Dolphins have won four of their last six games and they are coming off back to back road wins thanks to Sunday's dramatic 34-28 victory over the Steelers.
And while Miami does not own the most sterling home record in the league (3-3), it has proven a most difficult team to put away at Sun Life Stadium.
The Ravens, Bills, and Panthers all managed to secure wins in South Florida, but they did so by a combined nine points. Carolina is the only team to defeat the Dolphins at home by more than three points, and they barely did so, escaping Sun Life with a 20-16 win.
Nonetheless, the Patriots have certainly had the Dolphins number of late, posting a 9-1 record in their last 10 meetings with their division rival. New England is also 3-1 both straight up and against the spread in its last four games as a road favorite at Miami with a spread between 0 and 3.5 points.
