NCAA Tournament Western Kentucky Hilltoppers vs. Kansas Jayhawks

The Kansas Jawhawks are the top seeded team in the South Region and they will take the floor for the first time in the NCAA Tournament tonight when they play the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. The game is scheduled for a 9:50 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on TNT. Currently the odds for the game has Kansas as a big favorite of 15 points.

Kansas solidified itself as a No. 1 seed this year by winning the Big 12 yet again. Now they will begin their potential trip to the Final Four in Atlanta by taking on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

The Hilltoppers finished the season with a record of 20-15 and went just 4-9 in road games this year.

Ben McLemore is considered to be the best player in the conference this season and he's a no doubt one and done type player. He'll help the Jayhawks in this one as they are pretty much playing a home game in Kansas City, where at the Sprint Center Kansas is 6-0 this season.

Jeff Withey will be looking to dominate the game on the inside for Kansas. He's a guy that is a double-double type player every time he takes the floor and look for him to beat up Western Kentucky on the interior.

Historically, Western Kentucky has been solid in the tournament. They advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2008 and won opening-round games in 2009 and 2012, although never as a No. 16 seed. T.J. Price leads the team at better than 15 points per game while George Fant will have to battle Withey on the blocks.

Both teams are pretty solid defensively and Kansas sets itself apart by being a very effective team offensively.

Western Kentucky was only 10-10 in the Sun Belt this season. Sure, they have a decent history in the Tournament but they are way over their heads in this one. We like Kansas to beat them up on the glass and in the paint. Look for a cruising win for the Jayhawks.
