Xavier has been a different team since Edmond Sumner went down with an injury earlier this year. Still, the Musketeers did what was necessary to earn an at-large bid into the tournament here. They drew a tough matchup with a Maryland team that has an excellent point guard in Melo Trimble, though Maryland did struggle down the stretch, going 4-6 the last 10 games overall. 

Maryland has to figure out the ability to get its three freshmen playing at a high level. The Terps rank inside the Top 40 (39th) nationally in adjusted offensive efficiency numbers, but they really struggle to get offensive rebounds consistently enough to find those second-chance opportunities. Having a guy like Trimble running the show certainly makes them a dangerous team teach time they take the floor. Veteran guards are very important this time of year and Trimble gives the Terps an advantage here.

Xavier is just 3-7 the last 10 games overall. They snuck into the tournament but it will be Maryland who picks up the win here.
