NCAA Football Odds Army vs Louisiana Tech

CFB on Saturday and we will see the Army Black Knights take on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at the Cotton Bowl in Texas. The start time is 4:00 pm Eastern) and the game will be televised on Fox Sports 1. Current Odds have Louisiana Tech listed as 1 point favorites, while the total sits at 54.

Analysis: The Black knights of Army enter this game at 1-3 on the year, with their lone win coming vs FCS foe Morgan State in their opener. The Army Black Knights are ranked 81 on offense, averaging 381.2 yards per game. The Black Knights are averaging 303.2 yards rushing and 78.0 yards passing, while putting up just 18.5 ppg on the year. The stable of running backs that Santiago can option to may have taken a hit this week as Raymond Maples (123 yards) is listed as questionable with a groin issue. The most important offensive weapon is QB Angel Santiago, who may not pass often, but he currently leads the team with 271 rushing yards on 62 carries and 3 TD's. Defensively, the Black Knights are average, allowing 377.3 ypg and 27.6 ppg.

The La Tech Bulldogs also come in at 1-3 on the year, with their lone win also coming vs an FCS foe (Lamar). The Bulldogs last year had one of the best offenses in the nation, putting up 51 ppg, but this year with Sonny Dykes leaving for California, the Bulldogs are averaging a mere 16.5 ppg, which is 113th in the nation. Last year their offense totaled 578 ypg, but this year they have dropped 200 ypg off of that number (373 ypg). In fairness, the Bulldogs did lose 8 starters from last years offense and are breaking in a new QB this year, plus Skip Holtz is more of a defensive coach that an offensive coach. Speaking that defense, they have improved this year allowing 110 ypg and 15 ppg less than they did a year ago. The Bulldogs have been strong in the red zone, allowing just six touchdowns in 13 trips. The Bulldogs also rank at the top of Conference USA in sacks (13) and fourth in interceptions (five).

Pick: Last week I had a big play on the Under in the La Tech/ Kansas game and it didn't disappoint as the game put up just 23 points. I will come right back with the Under here. Last week's game had a total of 51 and this one is at 55.5, which I feel is way too high. Army is a running team which will eat plenty of clock, plus they only score 18.3 ppg on the year. The Bulldog offense is not the juggernaut they were last year, as they are averaging just 16.5 ppg so far, while improving on the defensive side, allowing just 22.8 ppg. Last year their games averaged 89 ppg, but this year their games have put up just 39.3 ppg, with non of their games scoring more than 54 points. Army games have averaged 46.1 ppg, with none of their games topping 54 points either. Very confusing line and that it has gone up is even more confusing, because nothing at all indicates that this one will top 50 points, let alone 55.5.
