NCAA Basketball Picks PAC 12 Tournament Oregon State Beavers vs Oregon Ducks

NCAA basketball on Wednesday night and it is the opening round of the Pac 12 Tournament. In this matchup we will see the Oregon State Beavers take on the Oregon Ducks at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The game has a start time of 9:30 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on the Pac 12 Network. Vegas odds have the Ducks listed as 7 point favorites, while the total sits at 149.

Stat Pack: The Oregon State Beavers come in at 16-14 overall and 8-10 within the Pac-12. The Beavers won their last game over the regular season, which was vs Arizona State, but overall they haven’t played well down the stretch, winning just 3 of their final 9 games. The Beavers average 75.3 ppg, which is 68th in the nation. They shoot the ball well, hitting 48.2% of their shots overall and 39.2% from long range. The offense is led by Roberto Nelson, who averages 20.6 ppg, while Devon Collier (13.5 ppg) and Angus Brandt (12.2 ppg) also average in double figures for the Beavers. Eric Moreland chips in with 8.3 ppg, while leading the team in rebounding at 10.4 rpg. Defense has been optional for this team as they come in allowing 74.5 ppg (290th) on 44.1% shooting (201st).

The Oregon Ducks had an up an down year, but right now they are the upswing as they have won 7 in a row to end the regular season. The Ducks finished the year at 22-8 overall and 10-8 in the Pac-12. The Ducks average a healthy 82.3 ppg on the year, which is 9th in the nation. They shoot the ball well, hitting 46.6% of their shots (62nd) overall and 38.9% from long range (30th), plus they are 4th in the nation in free throw shooting (77.2%). Joseph Young leads the team in scoring at 18.2 ppg, while Mike Moser is second at 13.7 ppg. Moser also leads the team in rebounding at 8.2 rpg. Jason Calliste hits 52% of his shots for 12.4 ppg, while Damyean Dotson puts in 10.1 ppg to round out the double digit scorers for the Ducks. On defense, the Ducks have allowed 73.7 ppg (275th) on 43.4% shooting (169th).

Pick: I like the Under in this game. A big part of the reason that the Ducks have turn it on of late is their defense that has allowed just 66.8 ppg in their last 5 games, and the Beavers have scored just 68.5 ppg (Regulation) in their last 6 games. The Ducks can score a ton and the Beavers give up a bunch, but still I feel that the Beavers can slow the Ducks down just enough to keep this one under the total.
