College basketball on Sunday night and we will see the Oregon Ducks travel to Corvallis to take on the Oregon State Beavers. The game has a start time of 8:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN U. Vegas odds have the Ducks listed as 3 point favorites, while the total sits at 161.
Analysis: The Ducks, who rose as high as No. 10 in the national rankings this season, have been stuck in reverse of late, with losses in three straight games. They are still sporting a 13-3 mark overall, but just 1-3 in league play. Oregon ranks second nationally in scoring at 88.4 ppg. The Ducks are also among the top 25 teams in the nation in field goal percentage (49.1%) and assists (16.1 apg). Joseph Young (18.8 ppg) and Mike Moser (14.6 ppg, 7.7 rpg) are the leaders offensively, Damyean Dotson (11.4 ppg) and Jason Calliste (10.8 ppg) have combined with Young to form one of the better backcourts in the conference. The Ducks have forced their opponents to commit 10 or more turnovers in 14 of 16 games.
Oregon State comes in at 9-7 overall and they are also 1-3 within the Pac-12. The Beavers are a strong offensive team, dropping in 77.8 ppg and shooting at a 49.7% clip from the floor, which ranks seventh in the country. Leading the way for the team is Roberto Nelson (21.3 ppg, 4 apg), who is actually the top scoring threat in the conference as well. Devon Collier (14.7 ppg, 7.1 rpg)has been very solid for the Beavers as well, but he was limited to just four points in 14 minutes off the bench against California. Angus Brandt (12.3 ppg) is the third and final player on the team averaging in double figures. Oregon State and Oregon will be meeting for an NCAA-record 339th time, the Beavers holding a 184-154 advantage.
Pick: I will be taking the under in this one. In the last 10 meetings no more than 160 points have been scored in any game. A big reason is tat this is an intense rivalry and that brings out better defensive play. I look fir this one in the lower 50's at best.
