Today on the NBA, we will see the Washington Wizards travel to take on the Boston Celtics in an exciting contest. The game is scheduled for an 7:30 pm start time and it will be televised live on CSN HD (Washington DC) and CSN HD (Boston). Currently the odds for the game have the Celtics favored by 9,5 points, while the totals line is set at 186 points. Opening lines had the Celtics favored by 11 points, while the totals line was set at 188 points.
Game Analysis: This is a home-home series, as Boston won at Washington three nights ago by 89-86. I had a lean on the Over for tonight's game, but I would have only taken it if coach Randy Wittman had made a change on the lineup, as he thought about doing it, but then decided to keep the same starting lineup. The following is a recap of the first game of the series:
"This starting lineup of Washington is an offensive disaster. By looking at the final numbers, we have Bradley Beal with 0-5 FG, Emeka Okafor with 1-6 FG, Trevor Ariza with 0-4 FG, with these three players shooting a combined of 1-15 FG! With four minutes to go on the 1st quarter, Washington had just scored two points! Boston was leading the game by 17-2, while Washington was shooting 1-14 FG! The Wizards finished the first quarter with 12 points scored, while shooting 4-19 FG! However, the Wizards' defense is worth noting. They only allowed 40 points to the Celtics during the second half and they held them to 35% FG! Boston simply had no legs at the end of the game. By the end of the 3rd quarter, the Celtics' starting lineup seems to lose their legs underneath them and they started missing a bunch of open jump shots! Rajon Rondo got some fresh players from the bench in Chris Wilcox, Jeff Green and Jason Terry. That opened a big hole in the paint for the Celtics, with the Wizards using that to get the Celtics lead down to just 7 points! Boston attempted just 13 free throws, they scored just 26 points in the paint and they attempted 21 3pts shots! In fact, they scored just 9 points on their last 8 minutes of the game, while attempting nine 3pts shots only during the 4th quarter, in a clear sign that they had no legs to be physical at the end."
After the game, coach Doc Rivers said that he wasn't happy with the team's conditioning and he ran them through conditioning drills in practice. Rivers also mentioned that they need to be more consistent during the games.
For today, both teams had 3 days off to rest and to prepare tonight's game, so fatigue shouldn't be a factor, unless coach Doc Rivers has worn the team out again with the conditioning drills. Therefore, this is a good spot for a nice offensive game in here. The problem is that I expected some changes on the Wizards' starting lineup, perhaps with Jordan Crawford returning to the starting five or Kevin Seraphin getting a starter role. But with no changes, the danger of a big start from Boston may ruin the chances of this game going Over the total posted and so, I'm passing on this game.
