NBA Playoffs Odds: Thunder vs. Spurs Picks, Predictions and Spread

The NBA Playoffs continue Tuesday night in Game 2 between the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs. The NBA Playoff odds for the game have the Spurs favored by 4.5 points. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 pm start time and it will be televised live on TNT. The spread shows that bookmakers have a prediction of a close win at home for the Spurs.

Picks: San Antonio picked up a win in the opening game of this series after a massive comeback in the fourth quarter. The Thunder led going into that fourth quarter but were outplayed, out-smarted and just beaten in the final 12 minutes. Manu Ginobili proved to be very important to the Spurs success, pouring in 26 points in San Antonio's win on Sunday night. Going up 2-0 would put the Spurs among just three others teams in NBA history with winning streaks of 20 games or longer. It would also break the record for longest winning streak extended in the playoffs, a mark the Spurs now share with the 2001 Los Angeles Lakers. Oklahoma City, on the other hand, hasn't trailed in a playoff series since last year's Western Conference Finals when they trailed eventual NBA champion Dallas Mavericks 1-0. They were able to bounce back and win the second game in that series, albeit dropping their final three games of the season. Thunder coach Scott Brooks talked about making a major error in Sunday's game by leaving Serge Ibaka, the runner-up in the NBA Defensive Player of the Year, on the bench in the fourth quarter. San Antonio poured in 39 points during that span and connected on 12 of their 16 shots. In the previous quarter San Antonio scored just 16 points when Ibaka was on the floor. Brooks and the Thunder will have to erase that from memory and move on. They've played very well in close games, with a 5-1 record in games decided by six points or less. That one loss came to San Antonio in the opening game. Kevin Durant tossed in 27 points and 10 rebounds, which is what the Thunder need from him. James Harden added 18 points as well. Who will come through tonight, the crafty veterans or the young running Thunder?

Prediction: Impressed with the way San Antonio closed the fourth quarter to come back and beat Oklahoma City in the first game of this series. Yet, also impressed with how the Thunder came back from down by double digits with under a minute to go to lose by just three points. Going against the Spurs might not be a smart decision seeing as they've won just about every game in two months, but if the Thunder go down 0-2, how will they respond? The point spread down at 4.5 is nearly half of what the line was for the first game, so oddsmakers are adjusting for the Thunder passion. I think they win this game outright tonight, taking home court advantage away from the Spurs before heading back home. Thunder 102, Spurs 97
