The NBA Playoffs continue Saturday night in Game 7 between the visiting Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat. The NBA Playoff odds for the game have the home town Heat favored by 8 points. The game is scheduled for an 8:30 pm start time and it will be televised live on ESPN. The spread shows that bookmakers have a prediction of a closeout win at home for the Heat, eliminating the Celtics from the playoffs and taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder in the finals.
Picks: LeBron James and the Miami Heat were able to stave off elimination in Game 6 of this series, having a big time road win with a 45-point, 15-rebound, five-assist effort in Boston. James flat out went off in that game, showing the type of potential and fire most people believed he had. "I won't regret Game 7," James said after beating the Celtics in Game 6, showing that he is ready to take his team to the NBA Finals for a second straight season. It's been an interesting series with the Heat winning the first two games, then Boston winning the next three before a Heat win in Game 6. NBA fans outside of Boston obviously want the Heat to win this game so we can have an eventful Finals with arguably the two most talented teams in the league. And, in all honesty, it's probably the last chance that the Celtics have to stay atop the NBA and be a force at this point in the season. Because the Celtics will be playing on the road in this game, we have some bad news for them — this is the 111th time a best-of-seven NBA series has gone the to a seventh game. The home teams have won 88 of those matchups, dropping only 22. But maybe that won't matter for the Celtics, who picked up a Game 5 win in Miami. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh will both be on the floor again for the Heat, but how much of an effort will Bosh continue to provide? Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett have both had good series to this point, and their experience, along with Ray Allen suddenly being able to hit shots again, could prove to be a difference tonight. Rajon Rondo will be a major player in tonight's game as well. Two things matter in Game 7's — elite level players and experience. It's still hard to argue that the Celtics don't have elite talent, but they definitely have the experience.
Prediction: Look, the Celtics are going to have a tough time winning this game, but I think the 8 points they are getting is too much. It's a Game 7 where the Celtics will be playing for their playoff and season lives. Experience, as we've mentioned, is huge but I'm expecting James and Wade to have big games tonight. Miami already lost at home in this series and I don't think it will happen again. Boston has it's chance in the sixth game of this series, but I do think they can cover the 8 points.
