NBA Playoff Picks Brooklyn Nets vs Miami Heat Game 2

Thursday night NBA and the Brooklyn Nets will be taking on the Miami Heat at American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida, This is game 2 of their best of 7 series. The game has a start time of 7:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on TNT. Vegas odds have the Heat listed as point favorites, while the total sits at 192.5.

Analysis:  Many thought that the Brooklyn Nets had a good shot at upsetting the Raptors in the first round of the playoffs, and many were right as the Nets did just that in a thrilling 7 game series, but then reality set in as they faced the Heat in Miami and lost game 1 by 21 points. The Nets are now just 17-28 on the road this year. The Nets averaged just 98.5 ppg on the year overall, and in the playoffs it has been a bit worse as they have averaged just 97.5 ppg on 46.2% shooting so far. In the playoffs, Joe Johnson has led the team in scoring with 21.3 ppg, while Deron Williams (16.9 ppg) and Paul Pierce (12.8 ppg) round out the double digit scorers on the team. Kevin Garnett leads the team in rebounding (5.3 rpg), while Williams has led them in assists (5.3 apg). On the defensive end of the floor the Nets have been solid this year allowing just 99.4 ppg during the regular season and they have been a bit better in the playoffs so far, allowing just 97.5 ppg on 45.7% shooting.

The Miami Heat came into the playoffs as the #2 seed in the East and they played just like on in their opening series vs the Bobcats, ousting them in 4 games. They continued that by taking out a Nets team that they lost to 4 times this year, buy 21 points in game 1. Miami has now gone 35-9 on their home floor this year. The Heat averaged solid 102.1 ppg overall this year and were the top shooting team in the league, connecting on 50.1% of their shots. So far in the playoffs the Heat have scored 102.8 ppg on 49.5% shooting. In the playoffs the offense is led by whoever but Lebron James, who is averaging 28.4 ppg so far, while also leading the team in Rebounding (7.4) and assists (5.4). Dwayne Wade (16.8 ppg) and Chris Bosh (14.6 ppg) have also averaged in double figures for the Heat so far in the playoffs. Defensively the Heat were are a solid bunch this year, allowing just 97.4 ppg (5th) on 45.7% shooting (16th) they have been much better in the playoffs, allowing just 90.8 ppg on 45.3% shooting.

Pick: Going to look to the Under in this one. The Nets lost game 1, but they still slowed the pace like they wanted and just 193 points were scored in that game. Jason Kidd rested his starters for most of the 4th quarter so they should be a bit fresher for this game and that should lead to more defensive intensity from the Nets. Miami already has that defensive intensity as they have allowed just 90.8 ppg in the playoffs so far. I expect this one to be played in the 180's.
