The Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns will lock horns for the third time this season when they meet later tonight at the STAPLES Center. Start time in this evening’s divisional clash is set for 10:30pm ET. The Lakers are favored at -9 against the spread in the latest NBA Odds and the game total is set at 201 points. The Suns are drawing +415 moneyline odds ($100 wins $415) to snap their current three game losing streak.

The Lakers enters tonight’s meeting with the Suns in a bit of a funk, having followed their 6-1 stretch with 1-2 run to close out a six game road swing. However, if they can prevail tonight and find a way past the Clippers on Thursday, they will enter the All-Star break just two games under .500.

While that is not at all what Los Angeles hoped for when the season tipped off, the team will, no doubt, embrace it after tumultuous first half.

The Lakers should feel good about their chances tonight because as bad as they have been at times, Phoenix has been far worse. The Suns ride a three game skid into this evening’s contest and they have just two wins in their last nine games.

Phoenix suffered through a 93-84 loss at New Orleans last Wednesday and it closed out a four game road set on Friday with a 127-96 loss to Thunder. Unfortunately for the Suns, they faced Oklahoma City again on Sunday at U.S. Airways Center. Phoenix managed to keep the Thunder three points shy of the century mark, but it mattered little as it posted a pathetic 69 points.

The Suns have won three of the last four in this series, but Los Angeles is 4-0 opposite Phoenix in the last four games at the STAPLES Center. The Lakers outpaced their Pacific rival by an average of 10.5 points per game in those contests.
