The Golden State Warriors are in Colorado this weekend as their NBA Playoff run gets underway on Saturday with a Game 1 clash against the third seeded Denver Nuggets. Start time in tomorrow’s best of seven series opener is set for 5:30pm ET; the game will be broadcast live on ESPN. NBA Odds have the hosting Nuggets listed as a -8 against the spread favorite and the Over/Under set at 210.5 points. The Warriors are drawing +320 odds to win tomorrow’s game ($100 wins $320) and +350 odds to win the series.
Golden State bounced back from its miserable 23-43 strike shortened season by finishing its 2012-2013 regular season campaign with a 47-35 record. The mark was good enough to earn the Warriors the sixth seed in the Western Conference and second place in the Pacific Division.
Unfortunately for the Warriors, their record also earned them a first round series against the league’s best home team, the Denver Nuggets.
Denver, which led the league in scoring with a 106.1 point per game average, went 38-3 at the Pepsi Center this season and it has not lost a home game since January 18th.
The Nuggets also come into tomorrow’s series opener on an incredible late season run. Denver won 23 of its last 26 games, knocking off a number of top teams in the process, including the Thunder (twice), Clippers, Knicks, Grizzlies, Nets, and Spurs.
The Nuggets, who are 12-2 in their last 14 home games against Golden State, also had their way with the Warriors this season, posting a 3-1 record against Stephen Curry and company. It should be noted, though, that Golden State’s one win did come at the Pepsi Center (topped the Nuggets 106-105 on November 29th).
Notable Trend(s): The Nuggets are 10-0 straight up and 9-1 against the spread in their last 10 games as a home favorite with a total between 210 and 215 points.
