The Southeast leading Miami Heat will make a stop in the Hoosier State tonight to face the Indiana Pacers at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Start time in this evening’s Eastern Conference clash between the Heat and Pacers is set for 7:00pm ET; the game will be broadcast live on ESPN. NBA Friday odds have Miami listed as a -2 against the spread road favorite and the Over/Under set at 183 points. The Pacers are getting +110 moneyline odds ($100 wins $110) to win tonight’s game outright.
Miami’s road play has been suspect this season, but it was exceptional on Wednesday night when it faced the Nets at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The Heat, who opened their current four game road swing with a 100-98 loss at Boston on Sunday, effectively shut the flapping gums of Nets forward Reggie Evans by hammering Brooklyn 105-85.
Miami, which got a team high 24 points from LeBron James, shot 51.8 percent as a team and it connected on an astounding 11-of-19 shot attempts from beyond the arc. The Heat’s defense, which is still trying to match last year’s standard, forced 19 turnovers and held Brooklyn to 44.9 percent field goal shooting.
The Heat get what should be tough test this evening in a Pacers team that is 27-19 overall and 17-3 as a host. Indiana returned home on Tuesday after a four game road slate that featured losses to Portland, Utah, and Denver. The Pacers took out their road frustrations on Detroit on Wednesday evening as they thrashed the visiting Pistons 98-79.
Indiana has won three of its last five home games against the Heat, including the last one, a January 8th clash at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Pacers topped Miami 87-77 despite shooting just 36.3 percent from the field. Indiana made up for its poor shooting by dominating the glass to the tune of 55 (22 offensive rebounds) to 36.
