The NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs continue tonight when the Nashville Predators take on the Chicago Blackhawks in an NHL Playoffs Game 6 matchup. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the NBC Sports Network. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Blackhawks favored to get the win and claim the series in the first round.
Nashville was able to hold off elimination in the first round by winning Game 5, 5-2. Now they have to once again find a way to get the job done against a Chicago team looking to march on in the playoffs. The Predators winning in Chicago is going to be a problem, though. They've already dropped two games there this post season and now that Chicago has already dropped a chance to eliminate the Predators, they will be clearly ready to play well tonight on their own ice.
The goalie shift to Scott Darling has worked out for the most part for Chicago. Corey Crawford didn't play well and got his job taken from him, Darling has helped lead the Blackhawks to the brink of advancement. Filip Forsberg beat him three times in the last game between these two squads, though. That hat trick was his first career and the first career Predators post season hat trick as well.
Nashville lost each of their first seven elimination games in post season history, six of which came on their own ice. They were able to avoid that trend last game out, but it's going to take a lot of work to be able to continue that. Chicago has the talent advantage, they've won in the playoffs before and they're on their home ice. Nashville really dug themselves a hole when they couldn't win Game 1, up 3-0 but ultimately falling in overtime as Chicago scored the next four goals.
Chicago might not need to repeat that success again today, because they'll be in control the whole game tonight.
