The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is in Long Pond, Pennsylvania this week for the Party In The Poconos 400 at the 2.5 miles Pocono Raceway. Today’s race, which is the 14th of the season, is scheduled to get underway at 1:00pm ET on TNT. NASCAR Party In The Poconos 400 Odds from offshore bookmaker Sportsbook.ag have current points leader Jimmie Johnson listed as a +300 moneyline favorite ($100 wins $300) to win this afternoon’s race. Kasey Kahne and Denny Hamlin are second picks at +800 odds while Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart round out the top five at +900 odds each.
Jimmie Johnson (+300): Johnson, who has the pole in today’s race, sits atop the points standings with a total of 473; however, his lead has slipped over the last two weekends. Johnson is just 30 points ahead of Carl Edwards after a 22nd place finish at the Coca-Cola 600 on May 26th and a 17th place result last weekend in Dover. The odds makers are expecting a better finish today, though, with the pole start. Johnson has two wins and 15 top 10 results in 22 races at the Pocono Raceway.
Kasey Kahne (+800): Kahne, who starts today’s race from position seven on the fourth row, will chase his second win of the season at Pocono (won the Food City 500 on March 17th). The Washington native has two top five finishes in his last three races, and he has one win and four top five runs in 18 career starts at Pocono. Kahne finished a distant 29th in last year’s Party In The Poconos 400.
Denny Hamlin (+800): Hamlin is way back in the points standings, sitting 26
th thanks to a back injury he sustained earlier in the season, but he is beginning to round into his usual form. Hamlin has finished in the top six in three of the last four races (includes the non-points NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race) and his history at Pocono is an exceptional one. In 14 starts at the raceway he has procured four wins and nine top 10 finishes.
