The 2013 Mountain West Championship kicks off at 10:00pm ET tonight at Bulldog Stadium in Fresno, California. The match-up, which will be broadcast live on CBS, features 10-1 Fresno State and 8-4 Utah State. Fresno State had already locked up the Mountain West's West Division heading into last weekend's meeting with San Jose State, but it needed a victory in order to preserve its hopes of securing a BCS bowl berth.

The Bulldogs offense showed up against the Spartans but its defense left something to be desired. San Jose State won the game 62-52 after posting 36 first downs and 736 total yards. The loss was Fresno State's first of the season, dropping its record to 10-1 overall.

The Bulldogs still have plenty to play, not the least of which is a conference championship, but they will need to avoid coming out flat after last weekend's gut wrenching setback.

Utah State is capable of competing with a physically and emotionally upbeat Fresno State team so it could have its way with a down Bulldogs squad that is still dealing with the effects of a sour loss.

The Aggies had every opportunity to fold their tents and give up on the season after their best player, quarterback Chuckie Keeton, was lost for the year in a 31-14 home loss to BYU, but they refused to do so.

Utah State did lose the following weekend to Boise State, but it rides a five game winning streak into this evening's game. The Aggies offense is averaging 33.6 points per game since its meeting with the Broncos while their defense has allowed just 10.2 points per contest.

Fresno State has won seven of eight against Utah State, but the Aggies have earned a cover in five of the last seven meetings between the two rivals.

Notable Trends: Utah State is 5-0 against the spread in its last five games as an underdog with a total of 54.5 or more points.
