Monday Night Football Odds, Seattle Seahawks vs St Louis Rams

Monday night football and we will see the Seattle Seahwaks travel to the Edward Jones Dome to take on the St Louis Rams. The game has a start time of 8:40 PM (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN. Current odds for the game have Seattle listed as 11.5 point favoriteswhile the total sits at 43.

Analysis: The Seattle Seahawks are in a dogfight in the NFC west as they enter this game. Seattle sits at 6-1 , while the Niners are at 6-2, so a win here would keep them at a 1 game lead in the division. Seattle played the Thursday night game last week and came away with a convincing 34-22 victory on the road against the Cardinals. Seattle went into the desert and defeated the Cardinals behind the superb play of QB Russell Wilson, who threw for 235 yards (8.1 YPA), three touchdowns and no interceptions in the game. Wilson has now thrown for 1,489 yards, 11 TDS and just 4 INTs on the season, but he has taken 20 sacks and fumbled 8 times, losing 5 of those. RB Marshawn Lynch continues to run the ball extremely well and he has 578 rushing yards (2nd in NFL) and 6 rushing TDs (T-2nd in league) for the season. The Seattle defense has been stellar this season as it is allowing a league-low 4.5 yards per play with just 190.6 passing yards per game (2nd in NFL) and 91.6 rushing yards per game (6th in NFL), while also ranking 3rd in scoring defense at 16.6 ppg.

The Rams, on the other hand, came up empty-handed in Carolina in heir last game, as they committed three turnovers and fell 30-15 against the Panthers. St. Louis quarterback Sam Bradford tore his ACL in the game and will be replaced by Kellen Clemens for the time being. Clemens (2-for-4, 19 yards last week) will start in Week 8, but is just 4-8 as a starter in the NFL with his last win coming in 2009. His last start was in December of 2011 where he threw completed just 45% of his passes for 226 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. St. Louis is now going to rely heavily on their new starting RB Zac Stacy (214 rush yards, 4.3 YPC, 1 TD), who carried the ball 17 times for just 53 yards (3.1 YPC) against the Panthers last week. The Rams' run defense has been very shaky this year, surrendering 126.4 rushing YPG (3rd-worst in NFL), while their pass defense has been bad as well, allowing 8.0 yards per pass attempt, which is the second-highest number in the league.

Pick: I will go with the under in this one. I expect a ton of running and clock moving plays in this one. the Rams have no choice but to run Zac Stacy, as Clemens is not their answer at QB. They know that and that is why they were looking to get Brett Favre out of retirement. Running Stacy will help shorten the game and give them their only shot at keeping this game close. On the other side the Seahwaks will also look to pound the rock allot with Marshawn Lynch, as he will be facing the 3rd worst run defense in the league, plus should the Seahawks get a big lead you can also expect them to really take the air out of the ball even more in the 2nd half of the game. Really hard to see the Rams scoring a bunch of points here, while Seattle should be held under 28 points. Lots of running on both sides, a great defense on one side should all lead to a low scoring game in St Louis tonight.
