The Kansas City Chiefs are in the Steel City tonight for a showdown with the surging Steelers. A 9-6 loss at home to Baltimore was the only setback in the streak that did not come by double digits and it marked the only game where the Chiefs did not allow at least 26 points to an opponent.
Simply put, Kansas City is bad on offense, bad on defense, and bad on special teams (exception punter). Add to that poorly coached, as Romeo Crennel is outclassed by his counterpart on a weekly basis.
A best case scenario for the Chiefs this evening is they avoid turning the ball over (something they do more than any team in the league) while turning the Steelers over (only Indianapolis and Pittsburgh have fewer takeaways than Kansas City). If those two things happen Kansas City may be able to finish within a touchdown of Pittsburgh.
The Steelers are in a classic letdown spot, but the fact they still trail Baltimore by 2.5 games in the AFC North chase should keep them focused. Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Todd Haley, the Chiefs former head coach, desperately wants to stick it to his former employer as well.
Haley got canned by Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli with three games left in the 2011 season, and it was an open secret the two had been feuding behind the scenes for quite some time. If Haley is allowed to run up the score tonight, he most definitely will.
