Monday Night Baseball New York Yankees at Boston Red Sox Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The Boston Red Sox are hosting the New York Yankees tonight in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Red Sox favored at home to get the victory.

New York is a game and a half behind the Toronto Blue Jays for the lead in the American League East. They've still got a Wild Card cushion, though, holding the top spot by four full games over the Texas Rangers. The Yankees are in Boston for the next few games and a nice series can only help them.

The Red Sox are 10 games under the .500 mark, but are 33-32 in home games. This bitter rivalry will see Eduardo Rodriguez take the mound for Boston tonight, he's 7-5 on the year with a 4.39 ERA in 16 starts to date. The Red Sox rookie has thrown 92 1/3 innings for the year, allowing 87 hits, including a dozen home runs.

Rodriguez has started twice against New York this year, going 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .234 against him. He's allowed four earns runs in 13 1/3 innings. Current Yankees are hitting .234 against him in 47 at bats. Jacoby Ellsbury has two home runs, Alex Rodriguez owns one against him as well.

The Yankees counter with Ivan Nova. He's 5-6 with a 4.50 ERA in 11 starts, one of which came against the Red Sox, where he allowed four earned runs over 6 2/3 innings. That game ended in a loss for the Red Sox, where Nova struck out three. Current Red Sox are hitting .353 against him in 80 at bats, Ryan Hanigan has two home runs while Alejandro De Aza, David Ortiz and Hanley Ramirez own home runs as well.

These games usually take forever, tonight we expect runs to be scored.

Vegas betting expert Steve Fezzik doesn’t expect the bad situation in Oakland to get much better this season. This AFC West team may have some improvements in terms of personnel, but Jack Del Rio is the latest in a carousel of ever-changing mediocre coaches, and Fezzik doesn’t expect he is the guy to turn this team around. He also thinks people are overstating Derek Carr’s abilities at quarterback, as he may do well in the fourth quarter, but his numbers are padded with garbage time performance.
