Monday NBA New Orleans Pelicans vs Boston Celtics Free Pick, Odds

Monday night NBA and we will see the New Orleans Pelicans travel to the TD Garden in Boston to take on the Boston Celtics. The game has a start time of 7:30 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on NBA TV. Current Vegas betting odds have New Orleans listed as 4.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 204.

Analysis: The New Orleans Pelicans come in having won just 1 of their last 3 games. The Pelicans are now 18-18 on the year, but they have struggled on the road, where they have gone just 6-13 so far. New Orleans is 9-2 ATS in their last 11 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game, but just 6-13-1 ATS in their last 20 games following a SU win of more than 10 points. The Pelicans have been an average offensive squad this year, ranking 16th in scoring (101.3 ppg), 13th in shooting, 21st in 3 point shooting and 14th in FT shooting. The defense for this team has been below average, ranking 20th in points allowed (100.8 ppg), 25th in defensive FG% and 12th in 3 point defense.

The Boston Celtics have not had a good year so far as they come into this game with a 12-23 mark and have won just 2 of their last 11 games. Boston is also just 8-11 at home so far. Boston is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points, but just 8-17 ATS in their last 25 vs. Western Conference. The Celtics have been a solid offensive team this year, ranking 8th in scoring (102.4 ppg), 15th in shooting, 27th in 3 point shooting and 17th in FT shooting. Defensively the Celtics have not been good at all, ranking 26th in points allowed (103.9 ppg), 14th in defensive FG% and 22nd in 3 point defense.

Pick: I will look at the Under in this one. Both teams come into this game struggling on offense, as they Celtics have averaged just 97.4 pg in their last 5 games, while the Pelicans have averaged just 97.8 ppg in their last 5 and they have scored just 96.4 ppg on the road. The Celtics have struggled on defense this year, but the New Orleans defense has been very good of late, allowing just 92.6 ppg in their last 5 games. The Under is 9-2 the last 1 meetings overall and 13-3 the last 16 meetings in Boston and this one should follow suit with both trend.
