The New York Yankees will look for their first series win of the season when they take on the Cleveland Indians later tonight. Start time in this evening’s game three game clash is set for 7:00pm ET at Progressive Field in Cleveland (ESPN2). MLB Wednesday Odds have the hosting Indians listed as a -108 moneyline favorite ($108 wins $100); the Yankees are drawing -102 odds in an underdog role. The Over/Under in tonight’s game is set at 8.5 runs with the Over being slightly favored at -115 odds.

The Yankees 2013 season started with series losses to the Red Sox and Tigers, but the Bronx Bombers put themselves in great position to take their current four game set with the Indians last night.

New York, which opened the series with an 11-6 victory, crushed Cleveland 14-1 after cranking out 18 hits, including five home runs. The Bronx Bombers chased Indians starter Carlos Carrasco in the fourth inning, roughing him up for seven hits and seven earned runs, but they treated his replacement, Bret Myers, even worse. Myers, who was slated to start tonight’s game, yielded 11 hits and seven earned runs over 5.1 innings.

Cleveland will look for a better effort tonight from 25 year old right-hander Zach McAllister. The third year pro had a respectable first outing, giving up six hits and two earned runs over six innings, but the Indians cold bats led to a 4-0 loss to the Rays.

McAllister, who is making his first career appearance against New York, is 4-6 with a 5.21 ERA in 16 starts at Progressive Field.

Countering McAllister this evening is Dominican product Ivan Nova. Nova got battered for five hits and four earned runs over 4.2 innings in his first start of the season, a 3-8 New York loss at Detroit; however, his road numbers over the past three years are respectable.

Nova, who is 1-0 in one career start against the Indians, is 17-7 with a 3.88 ERA away from home over the last three seasons (35 appearances, 32 starts).

Last night’s victory represented the Yankees seventh win in their last eight meetings with the Indians.

Notable Trends: The Indians are 2-8 in their last 10 games as a home favorite against a right handed pitcher with a total between 8.5 and 9 runs (Over was 8-2 in those same 10 games).
