New York Yankees and
Colorado Rockies are slated to open a three game inter-league series tonight at Coors Field in Denver. First pitch in this evening’s game one showdown is scheduled for 8:40pm ET. The latest
MLB Tuesday Odds have the Rockies listed as a -117 moneyline favorite ($117 wins $100) and the Over/Under set at nine runs (Over is favored at -115 odds). The Yankees, who open an eight game road swing tonight, are drawing +107 odds to defeat Colorado.
The Yankees own an impressive 18-12 record, which has them two games back of the first place Red Sox in the AL East standings, but they enter tonight’s game off a series loss to the Athletics.
New York dropped its opener with Oakland 2-0 and it fell 5-4 on Sunday, giving the team its second home series loss of the season.
Consequently, the Yankees are looking to avoid their third loss in four games when they send veteran
Hiroki Kuroda to the hill tonight. Kuroda may be just the man for the job given his start to the season. New York is 5-1 in his six starts and the Yanks have not lost with the Japan native on the mound since April 3
rd.
Kuroda, who is 4-1 with a 2.25 ERA, does not have good career numbers against the Rockies, though. In 10 career starts against Colorado the 38 year old right hander is 1-5 with a 5.52 ERA (1-2 in four starts at Coors Field with a 6.85 ERA).
Countering Kuroda for the Rockies is left hander Jorge De La Rosa. De La Rosa is 2-3 with a 4.18 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in six starts. The Mexico native, who is making just his second appearance of the season at Coors Field, is coming off his worst outing of the year, a 6-2 loss at Los Angeles. De La Rosa allowed 11 hits and six earned runs over four innings in the setback to the Dodgers.
Notable Trends: The Over is 8-2 in the Yankees last 10 games as a road dog with a total between 8.5 and 9 runs.
