MLB Tuesday Preview and Best Bets: Pitcher Matchups, Team Trends, and Betting Picks

In the latest episode of RJ Bell’s Dream Preview, hosts Munaf Manji and Griffin Warner dissect the Tuesday MLB slate with a detailed eye on pitcher performance, betting angles, and team dynamics. Here’s a full breakdown of their insights, stats, and best bets—straight from the transcript.

Dodgers vs. Marlins

Tony Gonsolin returns from injury for the Dodgers after a 6-inning, 9-strikeout win over Miami in April. Cal Quantrill, with a poor 1–7 record and 8.22 ERA against LA, is seen as a fade candidate. The Dodgers lineup, even missing Tommy Edman (IL), is stacked. Expect offensive fireworks.

Best Angle: Dodgers team total over, or full game over 9 runs.

Rangers vs. Red Sox

Nathan Eovaldi is in elite form with 15 strikeouts and just 1 ER over his last two outings. Lucas Giolito, however, shows post-surgery decline and is throwing just 91 mph. Rangers’ offense has underperformed, but pitching edge leans in their favor.

Best Angle: Rangers first 5 moneyline; lean under full game.

Phillies vs. Rays

Zach Wheeler continues to allow multiple earned runs per start, while Drew Rasmussen delivers but lacks run support. The Rays have lost 4 of his last 5 outings. With both teams' offensive inconsistencies, the under appeals most.

Best Angle: Under 8; possible first 5 under if line hits 4.

Padres vs. Yankees

Michael King has allowed just 3 ER in his last 4 starts and knows Yankee Stadium well. Clark Schmidt is unreliable, and the Yankees bullpen is inconsistent. San Diego is a slight road favorite, hinting at sharp action.

Best Angle: Padres ML; advantage Padres in bullpen and lineup depth.

Reds vs. Braves

Chris Sale showed elite form last game (7 IP, 10 K), while Andrew Abbott is struggling and the Reds can’t hit. Atlanta’s offense hasn’t found its stride either, but bullpen risk makes a total play appealing.

Best Angle: Over 8 runs; Braves team total over as alternate.

Giants vs. Cubs

Colin Rea has a terrible history vs. SF (8.57 ERA), while Justin Verlander has been solid, if not dominant. Cubs are hot offensively, but market may be overpricing them. SF offers value.

Best Angle: Giants ML +127.

White Sox vs. Royals

Seth Lugo is 3–0 with a 0.79 ERA in 3 starts vs. Chicago. The White Sox are essentially a Triple-A lineup. KC just exploded for 7 HRs on Sunday.

Best Angle: Royals -1.5 at near-even money.

Orioles vs. Twins

Cade Povich has had one bad outing but otherwise solid. Pablo Lopez is strong at home and overs tend to hit. Neither team inspires confidence to lay heavy juice.

Best Angle: Orioles ML or full pass; avoid heavy chalk.

Astros vs. Brewers

With Yordan Alvarez now on the IL, Houston’s offense suffers. Hayden Wesneski has had past success vs. MIL. Chad Patrick has lost 4 straight starts.

Best Angle: Under 8 or under 8.5 if the market shifts.

Pirates vs. Cardinals

Paul Skenes is 0–3 vs. STL despite a 2.70 ERA. Matthew Liberatore is pitching well, and STL presents value as a home dog. PIT offense continues to sputter.

Best Angle: Cardinals ML +113.

Tigers vs. Rockies

Jackson Jobe is 5–0 in team starts; Chase Dolander is not trustworthy. COL’s overall weakness rules out backing them.

Best Angle: Tigers run line or pass entirely.

Mets vs. Diamondbacks

Zac Gallen struggles in Arizona due to curveball issues in dry air. David Peterson is steady through 5 innings. Bullpen and offense both favor NYM.

Best Angle: Mets ML and team total over.

Mariners vs. Athletics

Jeffrey Springs is coming off his best outing (6 IP, 0 ER). Emerson Hancock is hittable and lacks swing-and-miss stuff. A’s are still underrated and offer value.

Best Angle: Athletics ML -116; lean over 9.5.

Best Bets of the Day

  • Dart Griffin Warner: Athletics ML -116 vs. Mariners

  • Dart Munaf Manji: Padres ML -108 vs. Yankees
