Analysis: Philadelphia (33-36) is closing a 10-game road trip seeking its third win in four games. Teammates Ben Revere and Michael Young have been the hottest Phillies. Revere is 11 for 20 over his last four games and Young is hitting .410 on the road trip. There was a time when the Philadelphia Phillies routinely looked to Cole Hamels to serve as a stopper. But not much has been routine this season for Hamels, who will be looking to avoid his 10th loss today. Philadelphia has won only two of Hamel's 14 starts this season, but the left-hander is coming off consecutive solid efforts in which he allowed three runs in 13 innings. Hamel was unable to post back-to-back wins for the first time this season, not factoring in the decision last time out against Minnesota despite permitting only two runs in six innings. Offensive support again was an issue for Hamels, who has received two runs or fewer in seven of his last 12 starts. He is 3-1 with a 3.32 ERA in six career starts vs. Colorado. Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins are a combined 0 for 16 with six strikeouts lifetime when facing Chacin.

Colorado can salvage a split of its 10-game homestand with a victory. The absence of Troy Tulowitzki has yet to affect the offense of the Rockies, who have piled up 17 runs in the two games since the star shortstop fractured a rib that is expected to sideline him four to six weeks. Leadoff hitter Dexter Fowler also has sat out the last two games with a bruised knuckle on his right hand. C Wilin Rosario snapped out of a 4-for-32 funk with three extra-base hits Saturday. Jhoulys Chacin earned his first win in nearly two months Tuesday, lasting only five innings while giving up two runs against Washington. He has struggled since missing more than two weeks with a back strain, surrendering at least four runs in five of eight starts. Chacin is 3-2 with a 5.44 ERA in eight home starts but has permitted only one homer at Coors Field. Colorado's 10-5 victory on Saturday was only its seventh in the last 35 games vs. Philadelphia.

Pick: Going to go with the Phils in this one. Their offense has been good in this series and today they should get some pitching to back it up. Cole Hamels has not pitched that bad of late, allowing 3 ER's or less in 4 of his last 5 starts and 3 ER's or less in 8 of his last 10 starts. Cole has also dominated the Rockies of late, with the Phils going 5-0 in his last 5 starts vs them, while he has a 1.94 ERA in those 5 starts. Cole is just 1-4 on the road this year, but with a solid 3.48 ERA and with the way the Phils have hit in this series they should give him more than the 2.29 rpg they have given him on the road so far. J. Chacin has allowed just 1 ER in each of his three career starts vs the Phils, but the Rockies are 1-2 in those games. At home he does have a 3-2 record this year, but with a 5.44 ERA and that should further allow the Phils to tag him for a few. The Phils should come up with enough runs to get the win here and give them their 6th straight win vs the Rockies with Cole on the mound.
